Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

Sparkman Wharf is Tampa’s favorite place to “eat, vibe, and flourish.” Located along the water, Sparkman Wharf is an entire lifestyle center offering a dining garden, Biergarten, recreational lawn for community events and concerts, and office and retail spaces. They host daily events like yoga classes on the lawn, live music on the weekends, and trivia nights.

For modern and fresh Italian food, visit Cena, an upscale restaurant located in the Grand Central building in the heart of downtown. Featuring traditional dishes made with local ingredients by Chef Michael Buttacavoli, Cena is all about providing Tampa residents with the ultimate experience. Try the octopus salad, shrimp, and scallop risotto, or the spinach farfalletti pasta with truffle pecorino and grilled artichokes.

CW’s Gin Joint exudes style. Carolyn Wilson sought to bring back the days when fine spirits were revered in an atmosphere that welcomed class, style, and gentility, so she opened CW’s Gin Joint to offer Tampa residents a unique experience. Their intriguing motto, “where style and grace have an attitude,” attracts customers and leaves them coming back for more after sampling the delectable menu with impressive libations. The goal of CW’s is to make each visit feel like you’re taking a sip of the best drink you’ve ever tasted — and you just might find it on the menu. Clever names accompany a creative beverage list, and the food provides tasteful and artfully curated selections, like sherry lemon chicken, raw oysters, and a chocolate pretzel bread pudding for dessert.

The Florida Aquarium is a great place for an adventure! Fun for the whole family, the aquarium is home to hundreds of sea creatures and terrestrial animals like river otters, aquatic birds, stingrays, jellyfish, eels, lemurs, and sea turtles, each living in their own specially designed habitat. The mission of the aquarium is to bring conservation awareness to residents and tourists and inspire people to take positive action towards saving our ecosystems. Sign up for a workshop, join a summer camp, or adopt an animal to support the efforts of the aquarium.

Things to Do

Downtown Tampa is loaded with unique and fun things to do every night of the week. Grab tickets for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa’s official NHL hockey team, and catch a game or a concert at the Amalie Arena. With 600,000 square feet of meeting space, the Tampa Convention Center brings incredible experiences to the neighborhood. With venue space along the water and indoors, the convention center hosts events like the annual Riverwalk Halloween Hunt, huge, multi-day workshops for businesses and organizations, job fairs, video game conventions, home expo conventions, Tampa HOA meetings, and charity fishing tournaments.

Downtown Tampa also offers prime outdoor activities and rich, cultural experiences. Curtis Hixon Park is an eight-acre park along the Hillsborough River near the Tampa Riverwalk and Tampa Museum of Art. This area attracts over one million people annually and is considered to be the “go-to” destination for things to do in the downtown area.

The Tampa Theatre is a historic landmark and Tampa’s “non-profit movie palace.” The theatre opened in 1926 and has since captured the hearts of Tampa residents and tourists, bringing in thousands of visitors per year. The building has experienced extensive renovations to keep the historic and classic design, including new 1920s-style carpet, logos, and theater seats. Seeing a film at the Tampa Theatre is a truly unique and memorable experience, and the location enhances the overall culture of the downtown Tampa neighborhood. In addition to movies, the theatre provides events and tours year-round, extending its outreach services to schools and the community.
